A PRODUCT THINKING ANALYSIS

THE MIXED REALITY DEVICES

MIXED REALITY. PERCEPTION. COGNITION.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project is refering to the Embodiment theories to analyse the impact of the use of Mixed Reality (MR) glasses in an industrial environment. It is directly linked to my professional experience in this field with the company Laster Technology.

As being a cutting edge field, mechanical and UI guidelines are mostly inexistant. This paper is willing to point out the impact of such devices over the user's perception and cognitive activity. As being a layer between user's mind and it's environment, MR glasses offer an intermediate space of perception and creation. This space however may spoil user's natural ability to reflect and memorise by assisting him to much. Where is the balance then ?

The digital version of this paper can be found below:

This thinking was initiated during my internship at Laster Technology and fed by the reflections of several thinkers like the writer A.Damasio, M. Merleau-Ponty or A. Leroi-Gourhan. This paper was achieved within the framework of the lecture "Embodied Interactions taught by Dr.J. van Dijk (Jelle).
