Topology Optimization
RESEARCH PAPER
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This paper relies on a comprehensive bibliographic search to offer an overview of the opportunities and issues for the application of topological optimization (TO) for designing custom made prostheses & orthoses. Topology optimization is a mathematical method that optimizes material layout within a given design space, for a given set of loads, boundary conditions and constraints with the goal of maximising the performance of the system.
This paper was written within the framework of the course 3D printing processes & use, taught by Professor Dr.Ir. T.H.J Vaneker at the University of Twente.
